We arrived at the bakery when it first opened and there was already a line. Unfortunately, it just missed the mark for me. When I spend that much on a meal, I am expecting greatness. Nothing was horrible but it just wasn't great either. There was no seasoning on the vegetables. Overall, the food was just lacking though. I also had to ask for both butter and sour cream for my baked potato. I asked for a new one and Sean quickly brought two more that were cooked much better. However, as seen in the photo, my crab cake was very overcooked on one side. We slowed down on our appetizer so that we could finish it with bread. Partially through we asked for some bread to go with it, which took over 10 minutes because they were baking a fresh batch. We started with the mussels appetizer, which was delicious. Sean (Shawn?) was definitely the stand-out though! He was pleasant and thorough. Throughout our stay, we had two servers attending to us. There was live music playing and the weather was beautiful. However, we were able to grab a first-come first-served high bar table outside right away. When we arrived, there was an hour wait to sit outside and immediate availability for the inside. Unfortunately, things didn't go as well as I had expected. In fact, we cancelled a reservation at one of our favorite restaurants to give this one a try because the menu and reviews looked so good. I want to say that I expected to absolutely LOVE this place. If they had lattes, I would just move in. The space is also super cool with funky artwork and I’d have more to say about it if I hadn’t been so busy trying to find a way to marry a biscuit. Well, some of the repeatable things said about the gravy were : “I could bathe in this” and “This is the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.” When we ran out of biscuit to scoop with, we drank the gravy out of the cups. They are so fluffy, I could die.Īnd the gravy.
There is apparently champagne in the mushroom gravy(I asked), so it’s fitting.įirst of all, these biscuits defy gravity. What we got was a breakfast that reduced us to closing our eyes with every bite, eating with our hands like animals and drinking gravy out of the cups like shots. We ordered the Gravy Train because “mushroom chowder” was too intriguing to pass up. There are not words to describe how much better these are than “good.” We thought it would just be good biscuits and gravy. We came here because the name is cute and it had a good rating.
